This is the guide that answers questions you'd ask a friend who lived in Riga. Which places are worth seeing? Where are the great places tourists haven't discovered yet? Written by a local host, it is based on intimate knowledge of the city. Riga's past and present is explained in a nutshell followed by 8 tailor-made itineraries covering the city's main attractions. Day trips to Jurmala, Sigulda and the Bauska Region are recommended plus a section of tips on shopping, eating out and nightlife. Essential practical information is included, with advice on climate, currency, getting around, hotels and useful addresses etc. In addition, a free detailed pull out map gives an overview of the tours, but can also be used independently of the guide.

This book provides everything necessary to enjoy a well informed visit to the Latvian capital.Full of pictures, maps, guided walks, background information and recommendations it fulfills all the requirements of a guide book.It also includes a pull out map (which is not part of the book) allowing the visitor to best see the city and plan more easily their route.Perhaps the only thing this book could benefit from would be a larger section on the Latvian language, although if you really want a phrase book these are readily available.
